The 2nd Annual AZ Active Kids Labor Day Campout was a huge success!

I can't express to you enough how much fun we had camping with a group of 30 last weekend. While we did get some rain up in Sedona on Saturday, we came prepared with pop up awnings, tarps under our tents and rain jackets. Some even went hiking to some nearby caves in the rain...not me, I stayed warm and dry with other moms eating chips and dip and chatting up a storm. It was nice getting to know one another!

On Sunday we took a tough hike up Cathedral Rock which made the burgers at the end feel like quite a reward...I earned that junk food!

Whether you're a seasoned camper or a total beginner, you'll enjoy camping with us. We're simple tent campers (although some campgrounds allow RV's) and we know how to relax and have fun! Let me know if you're interested in joining us on a future campout. The more the merrier! Your kids will never forget it and they'll sleep quite soundly at night!

My Kids Closet Sale This Weekend!

We will be holding our Fall/Winter Sale Saturday, September 12^th at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church located at 23104 N. 67^th Ave. in Glendale. Sale hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. We will close the doors at 1 p.m. and re-open at 1:30 p.m. with many of our items 1/2 price until 4:30 p.m.

A couple of shopping tips:

Please don't open sealed bags at the sale. If you want to see the items inside, see a volunteer to help you.
If you'd like to buy a larger item (i.e. crib) and continue looking around, please see a volunteer (in the denim aprons) to place a sold sign on the item.
If you bring children on Saturday, please watch them closely. We ask that they not play with items or open bags.
We accept cash, MasterCard & Visa.
For your convenience, the cafe (located in the foyer) will be open and serving cold menu items (sandwiches, salads, etc.) and snacks during the day.

Remember to bring a laundry basket to carry your purchases in. You will need something to help carry all your great deals home.

Tribune's 10th Annual Get Out Performing Arts Expo (FREE)

If the recession has had you sitting on the sidelines of the Valley's arts and culture scene, Saturday is your chance to get back in the game in a big way.

Nearly 20 performing arts groups - from theater companies to modern dance troupes - will perform during the Tribune's Get Out Performing Arts Expo. It's happening Saturday at Mesa Arts Center, and it's free.

The rapid-fire performances, staged every 15 minutes, are meant to provide an all-day-long sneak peek at the upcoming performing arts season, when operas, children's theater groups, comedy troupes and others will stage a bevy of eclectic new reasons to get dressed up and go out on the town.

It's the same show that was held for eight years at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Last year, it moved for the first time to Chandler Center for the Performing Arts.

Saturday's 10th annual Expo will feature vignettes by Desert Dance Theatre, Mesa Encore Theatre, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and more than a dozen other groups - including performers from the Arizona Renaissance Festival and National Comedy Theatre in Mesa.

Meanwhile, in the lobby outside the center's flagship Ikeda Theater, attendees can browse arts groups' information booths for details on upcoming shows and the chance to buy single tickets or subscription packages.
