Cabela's
I took my kids to Cabela's new store and it was so incredible and FREE! If you've never been, it's worth the drive and really fun to see all the in-credible animal diorama's, aquariums and play shooting range/target shooting (like Rawhide has). The store is located just north of the new football stadium east of the 101 and on the North side of Glendale Ave. They have a map on their website.
Pets Inc.
There's an incredible privately owned pet store located at Southern and Mill Ave. in Tempe called Pets Inc. Its a fun FREE family outing or mini field trip. I took Jack there while Sammy was at his Saturday morning Childsplay Academy class...he had a blast! See a few photos below:
Phoenix Art Museum
Did you know that on Tuesdays from 3 - 9pm everyone gets in FREE at the Phoenix Art Museum? This is a great way to introduce your child to the art museum in small doses (you won't feel like you have to "get your money's worth" since it's free!). They have these awesome Kids Packs for children ages 6 to 10 and their adult companions will enjoy exploring the Museum with this child-size backpack full of activity cards, puzzles, looking activities and other creative challenges that correspond to art in the Museum's collection. KidPacks can be checked out for free in the lobby; a limited number of KidPacks are available. Children 6 and under are always free too!
Wildflower Bread Company
Every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4 pm, Wildflower Kids enjoy a complimentary cookie, milk and activity. FREE
Kid's Play at the Anthem Outlets
Outlets at Anthem invites you to bring your little ones and join us for a FREE INTERACTIVE KIDS PROGRAM each Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Activities are geared for younger aged children and require parent participation. Every week kids enjoy singing, dancing, and a special snack provided by Auntie Anne's Pretzels. Kids Play is located in Suite 345 for both kids and parents to enjoy.
The Downtown Phoenix Public Market
Runs 8-1 year round at 721 N. Central Ave., at the southeast corner of Central Avenue and McKinley Street. Vendors offer fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables, meat and dairy products, roasted coffee, jams and honey, baked goods and prepared foods. Free admission and parking. (602) 493-5231
Home Depot FREE Kids Workshops
Kids Workshops are FREE "How-To Clinics" designed for children ages 5-12 (but I've never had them ask). The workshops are offered on the first Saturday of each month between 9:00 a.m. and noon at all The Home Depot stores. Children accompanied by an adult construct projects from pre-fabricated kits. The kits are designed to be both educational and practical. The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.
