Our mission is to assist parents in finding playful activities and everyday adventures to help nurture and develop their children physically, socially, intellectually, creatively and emotionally.
Started by a local Mom:
I'm Holly Hunter, wife and stay-at-home mom to 3 boys. Like many of you, I'm not a native Phoenician but rather a transplant arriving from Kansas in Dec. 1998. While it did take me a year to get used to living in the desert I've grown to love it for its mild winters, abundance of outdoor activities and stunning sunsets.
Why AZ Active Kids:
In 2006 I launched AZ Active Kids as a way to share the knowledge I've gained about the Phoenix Metro area. I found that I was always searching the internet, magazines, newspaper and anywhere else I could, to find things to do with my kids on the weekends. Why couldn't all of this information be found in one place or get sent right to my email account?
I decided that since I couldn't find such a site I'd create one. I've spent countless hours researching, updating and networking to launch AZ Active Kids and then keep it afloat. I've met so many wonderful parents I now call friends because of this site and this amazing opportunity.
What's there to do around here?
Coming from a smaller town, one of the first things I came to appreciate was the variety of wonderful activities we have at our disposal. We're so fortunate! Not only are we surrounded by miles and miles of mountain trails just waiting for us to hike or bike, but we also have a variety of cultural venues to choose from.
I love taking my boys to live children's theatre and Broadway musicals or to an outdoor fair or festival. Can you believe all the exciting sporting venues this city has to offer! I'm a huge Phoenix Suns fan, the AZ Diamondbacks won the World Series shortly after I moved here and who isn't an AZ Cardinals fan after the 2009 Super Bowl?!
We have incredible parks systems that manage to operate on shoestring budgets, splash pads and pools to keep us cool, world class museums and zoos to educate and entertain us and superb botanical gardens that highlight the desert flora and fauna.

In April, 2009 I had the pleasure of being introduced to a new Scottsdale based company called Inetwerx. Inetwerx saw huge potential in my website so we formed a partnership. They went to work creating a new, more professional looking website while keeping the same user-friendly layout everyone has loved. Their hard work is paying off as we're seeing more traffic to the site than ever.
